“What shall we tell the children?”
How to help children deal with the changes that arise from parental separation or divorce.
Lancashire Family Mediation Service is running a single session workshop for parents, which will provide an opportunity to discuss:
o The impact of parental separation and, in particular, conflict, on children of all ages.
o How to help children adjust to the changes in their lives.
o Communication between parents about their children’s needs and well-being.
The sessions will be an informal mix of discussion, taped material and information, led by Janet Phillips, an LFMS Mediator, who has attended a course run by Christina McGhee, whose programmes about post-separation parenting were featured on Granada TV during 2006.
There will be two, identical, workshops, to allow parents to attend separately or together. Sessions will start at 10 am, and will end at 2.30 pm, (including a short lunch break.)
Dates: 3rd/4th Sat in May 2007,
2nd Sat in June 2007. (provisional)
Cost: £20 per person. (includes a light lunch, tea and coffee)
(No charge will be made for those in receipt of benefits, but proof will be required)
Venue: 15 Cross Street,
Preston. PR1 3LT
